Ready to box? Here’s what you need to know for your first class at Minneapolis Boxing Club.
Be early! It takes time to put on hand-wraps, and the last thing you’ll want is to feel rushed coming into your first class.
Stay hydrated! Boxing is a true test of fitness and conditioning. Hydration is essential to success in the ring. Drink plenty of water before, during, and after your workout.
Go at your own pace. Boxing is a very technical sport – it’s okay to start slow as you master the fundamentals.
Give it time. You won’t become an expert overnight. Remember, your biggest competition is yourself. Just focus on getting better one step at a time.
Ask questions! Your coaches are boxing experts who want you to succeed. Don’t be afraid to ask even the most basic questions – they are here to help.
Frequently Asked Questions
Do I have to register before attending class?
Registering in advance is recommended and helps speed things up when you arrive, but it’s not required. Our trainers can assist you with registration when you get to class. Please ensure you arrive at least 15 minutes early if you intend to register before class.
Can I only register for boxing basics or can I take the boxing/group training class?
Boxing Basics is very popular and a great foundational class, especially if you don’t have previous boxing experience. However, we don't require you to take Basics in order to take other classes, which are open to all skill levels.
Do I need to bring any equipment?
Not for your first class! We provide hand wraps and gloves that you can borrow.
What should I wear? Is there anything I should bring?
Wear standard workout attire and sneakers. We also recommend bringing a water bottle to stay hydrated.
